Timber decking and a sunken
garden
|
Spiky architectural planting
is predominant in garden which leads down from a balcony on the first
floor onto the lower decking with sunken bed. The bamboo (Phylostakis
nigra) on the right emphasis the vertical plane lending height to
the design thereby disguising the fact that this is in fact a long
thin garden. There are some interesting contrasts in the planting,
which includes hostas in the central sunken platform area. The background
planting includes Fatsia, Tracicarpus and Banana. Phormium 'Dazzler'
spills over the timber decking at a mid point on the steps. Soft and
harder spikier plants create an intriguing combination. |
