| Low box hedging surrounds vegetable planting of varieties of cabbage and lettuce. Seen from the second floor of a large country house, the raked loose gravel emphasises the straight lined formality of the design. Similar elements can be used in a more informal smaller setting where the combing of gravel into loose patterns, waves or swirls is a manifestation of the life force and eastern influence in gardens in which symbolism plays a key role role. e.g. Feng Shui. |
