Farmland Features
| Two
views from opposite sides of this substantial man-made pond, originally
many years old and excavated from the natural hollow for use as watering
for grazing cattle. Its water supply follows the spring line running
downhill parallel to the field hedge. Over time, the pond had fallen
into disuse until the decision was taken to dredge it, lay a loose
gravel path and adopt a planting scheme which includes marginals.
The ducks could be real, but in this case are copper ornament, a feature
apparent only on close inspection. |

Nature will soon heal the scars as the planting takes hold and matures
to form a favourite place in which to stroll in the late afternoon
sun. Landscaping is not necessarily solely the domain of the urban
environment. |
