This spur of planting shapes the main lawn area.
It also helps to screen the lake from the drive. The
lake will only be visible when you start to walk towards
the house. As the spur must screen it should contain
a high percentage of evergreen but still provide interest
throughout the week.
The lawn is
to go right up to the waters edge. This will increase
the impact of the view from the house. You will see
over the grass between the planting over this lake and
weir to the trees at the bottom.
Existing
cherry to remain. The planting surrounding the cherry
and maple is to be in large drifts of single species
using subtle colours such as blues and purple.
Entrance
through the planting onto a gravel path which circles
the upper lake. The gravel is retained off the grass
by a large log sunk into the ground.
The path
that leads down to the weir emerges out of the waterside
planting onto a pebble beach. This provides an interesting
feature as well as access for wildlife.
